It's always interestin...Thanks for this memory. It's always interesting how we can see people so differently, have such different experiences with the same people. I was quite good friends with Julia in the nineties. We had wonderful times together at conferences, at festivals and at home when she'd stay with me in NYC. <br /><br />I never saw her as a bully. Instead, I always found her brilliant and funny. She could make me laugh harder that almost anyone I've ever known. We disagreed about some things, but never in a contentious way. I listened, she listened, and then we laughed. That's how she lives in my memory. <br /><br />We do know how memory is unreliable, but it's what we have.
