Dear AJDS members and supporters,

Welcome to the latest edition of the new fortnightly update email from the AJDS. We will be sending out this email every other Thursday chock full of updates on AJDS activities, notices of events, articles of interest, historical material and much more!

1. AJDS news and statements: 

The AJDS issued a statement on June 27th condemning the Australian Government's proposed amendments to the Migration Act. You can read it here.

The AJDS also issued a statement on July 1st on the killing of Israeli young people. You can read it here.

3. Upcoming events:

This Sunday 13th July 3 pm hear a talk by Dr Julie Cwikel, the Founder and Director of the Center for Women's Health Studies and Promotion at the Ben Gurion University of the Negev. She works with Jews, Palestinians and Bedouin. Leo Baeck Centre, 31-37 Harp Road, East Kew. Entrance: gold coin includes afternoon tea.

On Sunday July 27th at 2.30 pm at the Melbourne Multicultural Hub, 506 Elizabeth St
(opposite Victoria Market), come to the Melbourne launch of 'The Drownings Argument' a Labor for Refugees publication edited by AJDS executive member Robin Rothfield. More details here.

The AJDS is proud to support the 'The Songs they Sang' music from the Vilna Ghetto project. Come to an upcoming concert on July 22nd - more details here and consider supporting the wider project financially - more details here.

AJDS members and supporters may be interested to attend an upcoming talk by Jeremy Salt on the conflicts in Syria and Iraq, 7 pm , July  24th at the New International Bookshop in the basement of Trades Hall, 54 Victoria St, Carlton. More details here.
